Frequently asked questions

Everything about WetProof coatings, nanotechnology and our products, in one place.

Nanotechnology

Both repel water, but the degree differs. A hydrophobic surface has a water contact angle above 90°, while a superhydrophobic surface exceeds 150°, repelling water so strongly that droplets roll off almost instantly and carry away dirt; the self-cleaning lotus effect.

A nanotechnology coating is an ultra-thin protective layer engineered at the nanometer scale that changes how a surface interacts with water, light, chemicals and wear, delivering properties such as water repellency, self-cleaning, UV resistance and self-healing.

The water contact angle measures how a droplet sits on a surface. A low angle (below 90°) means the surface is hydrophilic and water spreads out; a high angle (above 90°, and especially above 150°) means the surface is hydrophobic or superhydrophobic and water beads up.

Excalibur NanoFilm

Excalibur NanoFilm forms a protective layer up to 85 times thicker than conventional nano and ceramic coatings, which is a key reason for its superior impact and abrasion resistance.

The coating reacts to mechanical stress: on impact it momentarily hardens and disperses energy across the surface, absorbing shocks that would otherwise chip or scratch the finish.

Durability depends on the substrate and conditions, but the thicker, harder film is engineered to outlast standard ceramic coatings significantly when professionally applied and maintained.

Excalibur NanoFilm is formulated for automotive, aerospace, marine and industrial surfaces. A certified installer assesses each substrate and prepares it correctly before application.

BionicA

BionicA uses a flexible polymer matrix that softens and re-flows with mild heat (such as sunlight or warm water), allowing fine scratches and swirl marks to close up and disappear.

It is ideal for automotive clear coats and high-gloss surfaces that are exposed to sunlight and prone to light scratching, where its self-healing and UV protection deliver the most value.

Yes. In addition to self-healing, BionicA is hydrophobic, so water and contaminants bead and roll off, giving a self-cleaning effect and easier maintenance.

Automotive

Excalibur NanoFilm offers maximum impact and abrasion protection, while BionicA adds self-healing for swirl-prone, high-gloss finishes. A certified installer can recommend the right system for your vehicle and climate.

Marine

Yes. By making surfaces hydrophobic and fouling-resistant, marine coatings cause water, salt and grime to release more easily, significantly cutting down wash-down and maintenance time.

Aerospace

WetProof has decades of experience developing coatings that address the stringent requirements of the aerospace sector. Specific certification needs are reviewed per application with our technical team.

General Coating

Yes. WetProof offers solutions for household surfaces such as glass, tile and textiles that repel water and stains, making them easier to clean and keeping them looking new for longer.
